But once in peacetime, besides the effects of past negative inter-group experiences, radical beliefs may become an obstacle to reconciliation, and help to prolong the confrontation in the minds of ex-combatants. An examination of 484 recently decommissioned soldiers and insurgents in Colombia show how the persistent ideological differences among former enemies help us explain post-conflict intergroup bias, beyond the effects of wartime victimization. We conclude that addressing the ideological radicalization that prolong confrontation after armed conflict ceases is fundamental to create proper conditions for reconciliation, and it offers a viable policy alternative to the much-needed healing from wartime-related trauma."},"dsDescriptionDate":{"typeName":"dsDescriptionDate","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"2024-05-30"}}]},{"typeName":"subject","multiple":true,"typeClass":"controlledVocabulary","value":["Social Sciences"]},{"typeName":"keyword","multiple":true,"typeClass":"compound","value":[{"keywordValue":{"typeName":"keywordValue","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"colombia, ideology, armed conflict, guerrillas, farc, armed forces"}}]},{"typeName":"language","multiple":true,"typeClass":"controlledVocabulary","value":["English"]},{"typeName":"depositor","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"Ugarriza, Juan E."},{"typeName":"dateOfDeposit","multiple":false,"typeClass":"primitive","value":"2024-05-30"},{"typeName":"kindOfData","multiple":true,"typeClass":"primitive","value":["quantitative"]}]}},"files":[{"label":"2021 11 11 dataset of Colombian military and guerrillas.dta","restricted":false,"version":1,"datasetVersionId":191,"dataFile":{"id":1923,"persistentId":"doi:10.34848/8YXUSO/NWEPHK","pidURL":"https://doi.org/10.34848/8YXUSO/NWEPHK","filename":"2021 11 11 dataset of Colombian military and guerrillas.dta","contentType":"application/x-stata","filesize":435842,"storageIdentifier":"s3://urdataverse:18fca01d5b1-90a1251c09d9","rootDataFileId":-1,"md5":"1983da0d4077b40ff0d5bc8ed244fc10","checksum":{"type":"MD5","value":"1983da0d4077b40ff0d5bc8ed244fc10"},"creationDate":"2024-05-30"}}],"citation":"Ugarriza, Juan E., 2024, \"Replication Data for: Ideological Radicalization, Victimization, and the Persistent Divide Between Armed Forces and Former Guerrillas in Colombia\", https://doi.org/10.34848/8YXUSO, Universidad del Rosario, V1"}}
